Quarter Peal Days

Hampreston Quarter Peal Day Wednesday 27th February 2019 – Report

Posted on

Ross Bradley writes:

“A hastily arranged Hampreston Quarter day for February resulted in some good ringing with quite a few firsts. Angie’s Union doubles blew the cobwebs away early in the morning as did the five doubles methods at Canford Magna. The mixed Plain Bob and Grandsire called by Mike was a steady well-struck quarter on the heavy six at Sturminster Marshall.

“Sadly the Double Oxford failed after some good ringing, one for next month perhaps.”

Links to details of the three successful quarter peals are given below.

Hampreston Quarter Peal Day Tuesday 29th January 2019 – Report

Posted on

Angie Jasper writes:
“On Tuesday 29th January, 20 Hampreston ringers and friends enjoyed a day ringing at a variety of towers in central Dorset and an excellent lunch at The Oak at Dewlish. Ross called a quarter of Spliced Plain and Little Bob which had 3 firsts in it and Harry covered well on his heaviest bell to a quarter at Cerne Abbas, but star of the day was undoubtedly Richard who faultlessly called his first quarter peal of Plain Bob Minor at the first attempt.
“Sadly quarters of Stedman, Double Oxford and Eynesbury Bob Doubles were not successful despite some good ringing.”
Links to details of the three successful quarter peals are given below.

Milborne St Andrew (St Andrew), Dorset:
1296 Single Oxford Bob Minor in 45 mins
1 Ross A Bradley
2 Ed Warren

1st in the method for 4.
Rung for Hampreston Quarter Peal Day and as a birthday compliment to Hampreston ringer Tom Harris.

New Method Composed to Celebrate 5 Years of Quarter Peal Days

Posted on

A new major method has been composed by Jack Pease to celebrate five years of Hampreston Quarter Peal Days, during which a group of ringers have been ringing quarter peals every month at various towers. The method was rung for the first time tonight at St John’s in Bournemouth by a band formed entirely of ringers who have been regulars on quarter peal days.
The method has been named by Jack as: ‘Single Hampreston Bob Major’.
Details of tonight’s performance of the new method have been published on BellBoard and can be viewed here: http://bb.ringingworld.co.uk/view.php?id=1025946
