Quarter Peal Days
“A hastily arranged Hampreston Quarter day for February resulted in some good ringing with quite a few firsts. Angie’s Union doubles blew the cobwebs away early in the morning as did the five doubles methods at Canford Magna. The mixed Plain Bob and Grandsire called by Mike was a steady well-struck quarter on the heavy six at Sturminster Marshall.
“Sadly the Double Oxford failed after some good ringing, one for next month perhaps.”
Links to details of the three successful quarter peals are given below.
The first Quarter Peal day of 2019 is being organised by Angie Jasper and is on Tuesday 29th January. The planned venues are: Bradford Peverell (9.30-10.35am); Cerne Abbas (9.30-10.45am); Mappowder (11.00am-12.15pm); Piddlehinton (11.00am-12.15pm); Milborne St Andrew (2.30-3.45pm); Hilton (2.30-3.45pm); and Winterborne Kingston (4.15-5.15pm).
The Quarter Peal day for July is being organised by Ross Bradley and is on Friday 27th July. The planned venues are: Shillingtone (10.00-11.15am); Stourpaine (10.00-11.15am); Shroton (11.30am-12.45pm); and Durweston (2.30pm start).
This month we were very short of ringers so just six of us set out to ring three quarters in the morning, finishing at a local pub for lunch. We had some good ringing but failed to score Kent Treble bob minor and mixed doubles, our only success being the one detailed below.
Milborne St Andrew (St Andrew), Dorset:
1296 Single Oxford Bob Minor in 45 mins
1 Ross A Bradley
2 Ed Warren
3 Marisa Bartlett
4 Paul Tyson
5 Mike Jasper
6 Angie Jasper (C)
1st in the method for 4.
Rung for Hampreston Quarter Peal Day and as a birthday compliment to Hampreston ringer Tom Harris.
